We help families reconnect to creation, order their lives, and build something meaningful with their hands

From Dependence To Provision.

Our work is rooted in the long tradition of Tennessee craftsmanship—where families built what they needed, worked the land well, and made things meant to endure.

Today, we carry that forward by helping families step into a fuller way of living on their land—from growing their own food to building systems that can sustain a household, and even serve a wider community. Through thoughtful, phased projects, we design, build, and walk alongside you—bringing in the right knowledge and hands at each stage—so you’re not just given a plan, but equipped to grow into it.

Culleoka Garden Build —
Timeless Cedar. Story-Driven Design

Built in Culleoka, Tennessee using 2″ thick, freshly milled cedar from Wilson County, this project features a collection of large raised beds designed for durability, beauty, and long-term use. The space is anchored by a fully enclosed garden fence and custom-crafted gates in our signature “Tolkien” style—organic, weathered, and reminiscent of an older world. Every detail was built on-site with intention, using natural materials and craftsmanship that will age with the land.

Tennessee Through and Through.

From the cedar we source to the hands that shape it, every Avodah build begins and ends in Tennessee.

We work with true-dimension cedar from a small Tennessee family-owned mill and build each garden by hand, with our own hands. Our work follows the long tradition of Tennessee craftsmanship — strong materials, honest labor, and things made to endure.

These gardens aren’t just built to last. They’re built where they belong.

Handcrafted Goods, Made The Right Way

Beyond our garden builds, Avodah produces small-batch goods made by hand using time-honored methods. From raw honey and homestead products to leather and furniture pieces, each item reflects the same commitment to honest materials and careful work.
These aren’t factory products — they’re made slowly, deliberately, and built to last.

Our Mission

Avodah — Work As an act of Worship

The Hebrew word Avodah means work, service, and worship. We believe honest labor done with care honors God. Through cedar garden builds and handcrafted goods, we seek to serve our community and steward the work placed in our hands. Our real work is in the theology we wrestle with while we build; the sermons polished while we sand, and the praise we come to while we care for the details. We work with our hands so that we are free to allow God to work on our heart.

Family Owned In Tennessee

Built and operated by a Tennessee family committed to honest work, strong craftsmanship, and serving our local communities.

Built By Hand

Every garden, product, and project is made by hand using quality materials and time-tested methods.

Built To Last

We believe in strong materials, thoughtful design, and work that endures for generations.

I called Avodah to make me 4 VERY large Cedar planters for the front of my house and I Very Happy with the results. Jay listened to my requirements, had excellent communication throughout the process to include delivery and installation. the Cedar wood is beautiful and a full 2 inches thick. He and his crew were always striving to meet my expectations, and they succeeded.
